Description

In their own words:

"Who we are ?

We are a Pune based group that is inspired by Open Management models. We are currently backed by Mr. C.L.Chavan, Chairman, Arihant Group of Companies. As of now, funding is not an issue and we are ready to fund monetizable projects within our financial limits. We are currently in the process of establishing the OS team and the process will be carried out over the entire life cycle of this project, as the OS team will be required to change after regular intervals. We are now 25 people strong in all our ventures, inclusive of our in house software development team.

Our Philosophy

Open Source as a Concept -

We look at open source as a framework. A structure in which any human science can fit. Like software, Machine Design, Biotechnology, Management, and the list goes on and on. The concept can be compared to Mathematics. We study mathematics as a part of Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Computing etc. but Mathematics is also a science by itself. Similarly, we see the applications of Open Source in Software, Drug discovery, Automobile design etc. but Open Source is a Concept by itself!

What Closed Source Means to Us -

We firmly believe that all knowledge should not only be free, but should be easily accessible. Today, even though Linux is free, it is difficult for a non techie to use Linux. A fresher to Linux hardly ever knows what to do with a Linux operating system! And if he approaches someone for help, he has to pay for it…suddenly, the open source scenario today, by our definition, is not open source any longer. Anything that is free but is not easily available, or cannot be used easily, will scare away a non techie. In his opinion, software is supposed to make his job easier, not further complicate it by expecting him to understand its functioning. Effectively, such software is still closed source for us!

With all the above, we want to prove to the world the following things

1.Open Source can extend to every human sphere

2.Even an average guy can earn from open source

3.Open Source does promote Innovation provided it is channelised appropriately

4.India has great potential to contribute to the Open Source movement

5.There is an alternative to Patents and IPRs for brilliant minds in Open Source.

We hope we are able to achieve our objectives and wish to be successful as soon as possible. We request the international community, for help and advice onto how things should work out with managing these projects. We are currently attempting to organize ourselves by holding meetings every week. We met quite a few brilliant people on the way. Hoping more such people will read this and join us, I end my essay about our initiative."
