Description

Provided by Laffayete Alvares Junior:

"Empowering people – providing them with ways to communicate their minds and encouraging discussion – seems to be an effective way to dismistify disguised efforts to implement coercitive regimes of information. This experimental project aims to make people share points of view and identify problems occuring in a city.

It is a crowdmap, geographically located initially in Niterói, crowdsourced and open to collaboration. It is based on a free open-source platform called Ushahid. OlhaObra is the crowdmap prototype, that will observe the demolition and construction of buildings around the city, in order to pinpoint real estate speculation. It is easy to share in most social networks through common devices such as computers, tablets and smartphones. Other maps could be proposed and added as a layer over the same map. This project is about to start and it is meant to be there while the platform lasts." (http://www.olhaobra.org.br/main)
