Description

Federico De Ambrosis:

"The European Counter Network ( ECN) is a virtual network created in 1989 as a network of BBS in 1996 and then acquire a website (Islands in the Net ) . The birth of the network was the result of a series of meetings held in Europe from an initial core of hacktivists since 1984.

The European Counter Network was born as a platform linking the different realities of the extra-parliamentary left Italian and European cultural associations , social centers , clubs, periodicals, specific projects. It offers web hosting, email accounts and hosting of mailing lists, so anonymous , self-managed and self-financed .

We currently home to several hundred sites and mail boxes and documentation on them this is a veritable archive of the Italian movement and its different areas : from the first nuclei of future Disobedient to the anarchist (both federated groups and informal) . It also hosts the project ecn / antifa , a real collection of documents, information, multimedia material on the right and neo-fascist movements . It is present , among others, the project crypto.ecn.org , a collection of guides , programs, and anything else that might be useful to cryptography and digital anonymity .

The network of ecn.org has often been the subject of attention of the judicial authorities :

- in 1995 during a search at c.s.o.a. Leoncavallo in Milan (at the time a hub of the network), the police destroyed the room in which he had hosted many of ECN , destroyed computers and much of the material held by them a judicial controversy with Giulio Caradonna , former Member of MSI , who asked the darkening of certain web pages hosted on ecn who called him a former fascist thug . The case was won by ECN , as the facts about the deputy were recognized as true." (via Facebook, December 2013)
